The Achaean League was an ancient Greek federation of city-states in the northern Peloponnese. It consisted of twelve member states, which included cities such as Corinth, Megara, and Athens. The league was established in the 5th century BCE and played a significant role in the affairs of ancient Greece until its dissolution in the 2nd century BCE. The league was largely democratic in nature and was governed by a council of elected officials known as strategoi. The league's military forces, known as the Achaean League Army, played a pivotal role in the wars of the time and were highly respected for their discipline and skill.
