Giant pandas are native to mountainous regions of central China, particularly in Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces. They inhabit bamboo forests in high elevations ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level. These forests provide shelter and ample bamboo, the primary food source of pandas.
