Microraptors were small, feathered dinosaurs that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 120 to 125 million years ago. They were known for their well-preserved fossil specimens, which showed the presence of feathers. Microraptors typically had four wings, which consisted of two wings on their forelimbs and two wings on their hindlimbs.
The wings of Microraptors were formed by long flight feathers attached to the arms and legs. These feathers were well-developed and provided aerodynamic surfaces, suggesting that Microraptors were capable of gliding or perhaps even limited powered flight. The presence of feathers on both the forelimbs and hindlimbs gave them a unique appearance, often referred to as "four-winged" dinosaurs.
