Millipedes have between 30 and 400 segments depending on the species. However, their name "millipede" is a misnomer as no known species have exactly 1000 legs.

Millipedes have a variable number of segments, depending on the species. However, they typically have between 30 and 400 segments, with most species having around 100 segments. Each body segment has two pairs of legs, which is how millipedes get their name (milli means "thousand," but they don't actually have that many legs!).
