There are eight species of pangolins, all of which are found in Africa and Asia. Four species are native to Africa: the Black-bellied pangolin, the White-bellied pangolin, the Giant pangolin, and the Temminck's pangolin. The other four species are found in Asia: the Chinese pangolin, the Indian pangolin, the Philippine pangolin, and the Sunda pangolin. All eight species of pangolins are currently threatened with extinction due to habitat loss, poaching, and illegal trade for their meat and scales.
