The okapi (Okapia johnstoni) is found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which is located in central Africa. It is native to the dense rainforests of the northeastern part of the country, particularly in the Ituri Forest and surrounding areas.
Okapis are primarily found in the dense understory of the rainforest, where they can browse on leaves, buds, fruits, and other vegetation. They have a unique appearance, resembling a cross between a giraffe and a zebra. They have a long neck, short coat of dark brown to reddish fur, and distinctive black and white striped legs.
