The ideal soil pH for growing hydrangeas is between 5.2 and 5.5. If the soil pH is too high, the flowers will be pink whereas if the soil pH is too low, the flowers will be blue.

The ideal soil pH for growing hydrangeas is between 5.2 and 5.5 for blue or purple flowers, and between 6.0 and 6.2 for pink flowers. Hydrangeas can tolerate slightly acidic to neutral soil, but extreme alkalinity can prevent the plants from absorbing nutrients effectively.

Hydrangeas grow best in soil that has a pH of 5.2 - 5.5 . If your soil is not in that range , you will need to manipulate the soil so the plant can absorb it's nutrients.
