prodigal. Use the adjective prodigal to describe someone who spends too much money, or something very wasteful. ... Prodigal comes from the Latin word prodigere, "to drive away or waste," combining the prefix prod-, or "forth" and agere, "to drive."

The word itself means spending money beyond a person's means. How can we stop this? We need to think before buying impractical things. Sometimes it needs to control oneself to overcome this impulsive way of buying things. If not, then we will end up having many debts in life. It will be a cycle that cannot be handled.

You earn say 100. And you buy something worth 300. And that 200 extra that comes out of some credit card. That would be call the overspending. Here you have to chase those 200 and then over a period of time return in some way there.

Spending beyond a person's means needs to be considered. I agree with you that it should know the inflow and outflow of cash in our savings before spending on something.
