A friend of mine had problem with a rental home with thin walls. Even if the structure looks good it is not so comfortable to stay in such buildings in a noisy busy street. I am in search of a budget rental house in Jersey City.

There are some old buildings in Journal Square area which has thin walls that may cause uncomfortable life because of street noises. If you are much concerned about sounds from outside you should avoid such houses. Avoid too old buildings and apartments with an A-pillar structure which often has thin walls. Check the location at busy hours before renting a home.

Yes, there are apartment buildings in Journal Square, Jersey City where residents have reported thin walls and related noise issues. This is a common complaint in many modern apartment buildings in the area, especially in newer luxury or mid-rise buildings with a cost-cutting construction.
