The visual acuity of snakes varies depending on the species and their specific adaptions to their environment. Generally, snakes have relatively poor eyesight compared to humans or other animals with well- developed eyes.
Most snakes have excellent motion detection and can detect movement very well, even from a significant distance. However, their ability to see details and distinguish colors is limited. Some species of snakes, such as pit vipers, have a specialized heat- sensing organ located between their eyes and nostrils call pit organ, which allows them to detect the body heat of their pray.
