Alexander was the son of Philip II and Olympias (daughter of King Neoptolemus of Epirus). From age 13 to 16 he was taught by the Greek philosopher Aristotle, who inspired his interest in philosophy, medicine, and scientific investigation.

Alexander the Great was tutored by the Greek philosopher Aristotle from 343 to 340 BC. Aristotle taught Alexander a wide range of subjects, including philosophy, science, politics, and ethics. He also taught Alexander how to think strategically and how to lead an army.
