In Egyptian mythology, Set tricked Osiris into getting into a coffin and then threw him into the Nile River. The coffin eventually came to rest in Byblos, where it was found by Isis, Osiris' wife. She then brought the coffin back to Egypt and restored Osiris to life.

In Egyptian mythology, Set was also known as the god of chaos and violence. According to the myth, he tricked his own brother Osiris into getting into a coffin and then threw him into the river. This was done to gain power and establish himself as the supreme ruler. The river in which Osiris was thrown is usually referred to as the Nile River. The myth symbolizes the battle between the forces of good and evil. The story of Osiris was later used to explain the cycle of life, death, and resurrection, which was central to the ancient Egyptian religion. It was believed that Osiris would rise from the dead and become the god of the underworld, which in turn offered hope to the Egyptians for life after death.
