In Egyptian mythology, the god who murdered Osiris was his jealous brother Seth, also known as Set. Seth was envious of Osiris' power and popularity among the people. He tricked Osiris into getting into a coffin, which he then sealed and threw into the Nile river. Osiris drowned, and Seth scattered his body parts throughout Egypt. This led to Osiris' wife, Isis, searching for and reassembling his body, ultimately resurrecting him as the god of the afterlife. The story of Osiris' murder and resurrection was a central theme in Egyptian mythology and was often portrayed in art and literature.
