The Concorde was a supersonic passenger airliner that was jointly built by France and Britain and could fly at twice the speed of sound. Its first flight took place on March 2, 1969, from Toulouse, France, and it entered commercial service in 1976. The Concorde was popular among wealthy patrons for its technological advancement and luxury travel, but its success was short-lived due to several high-profile accidents, including a crash in Paris in 2000 that killed 113 people. It was officially retired from service in 2003.
