World War One officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919. This treaty was signed between Germany and the Allied Powers (France, Britain, and the United States) and effectively ended the war. The Treaty of Versailles imposed heavy penalties on Germany, including the loss of territories and a large reparations payment.
