In Greek mythology, the hero Meleager was the son of Zeus and Althaea. He is best known for his involvement in the Calydonian Boar Hunt, in which he was the leader of a group of heroes who killed a monstrous boar sent by the goddess Artemis. He was also credited with founding the Olympic Games.
