During the Tupamaros revolt in Uruguay, the Leader of Uruguay was Jorge Pacheco Areco. Pacheco Areco filled in as the Leader of Uruguay from 1967 to 1972. The Tupamaros, otherwise called the Public Freedom Development, was a radical metropolitan guerrilla bunch that did outfitted activities and demonstrations of political viciousness in the last part of the 1960s and mid-1970s. President Pacheco Areco pronounced a highly sensitive situation and executed cruel measures to battle the uprising, including expanded suppression and military contribution. The Tupamaros rebellion, alongside different elements, added to political turmoil and possible military rule in Uruguay.
