According to the biblical story of Noah's Ark, it was Noah, not Adam, who was instructed by God to build an ark and take pairs ofanimals with him to preserve them from the flood. The Bible lists the animals that Noah took with him on the ark as:
- Seven pairs of clean animals (that are suitable for sacrifice)
- One pair of unclean animals
- One pairanimals on board, along with his family. The following is a list of animals that are commonly believed to have been taken on board the ark by Noah:
- Land animals: Cows, sheep, goats, horses, zebras, camels, llamas, pigs, raccoons, skunks, anteaters, kangaroos, rabbits, deer, moose, and many more.
- Birds: Pigeons, doves, sparrows, finches, owls, eagles, vultures, hawks, and many more.
