For a number of reasons, some men may prefer that their partners move in together before marriage. It allows them to test compatibility in daily life, learn about each other's habits and ensure they can overcome challenges together. It could also be a practical decision, such as sharing expenses or building a stronger emotional bond before marriage. Every person and every relationship is unique, so motivations may vary.

I think it's important to talk to your partner to better understand why he wants to take this step. And if this is something that you are not particularly comfortable with I would recommend voicing that out to him as well. However, there's a common saying that you don't really know someone till you live with them. Maybe your partner wants to see if you guys are truely compatable before taking the next step

Before committing totally to marriage, cohabitation is a terrific method to test-run a relationship. Couples can learn how to work as a team and share a home and live together in a setting that allows them to truly get to know one another. Living together prior to marriage was long thought to be very contentious because of the consequences for morality in religion. Religion differ in this regard, however cohabitation is not specifically mentioned as a sin. Its propensity for premarital sex, however is what is frequently frowned upon. In summary, cohabitation is beneficial to both persons in courtship but dangerous when premarital sex is involved.

People have various reasons for choosing to cohabit before marriage, and it's not exclusive to men. Some common reasons include:

1. **Compatibility Testing:** Living together allows a couple to test their compatibility on a day-to-day basis. It provides insights into each other's habits, lifestyle, and how well they can manage shared responsibilities.

2. **Financial Reasons:** Sharing living expenses can be more economical. Some couples choose to live together to save money, especially if they are considering marriage in the future.

3. **Relationship Progression:** For some, cohabitation is a natural progression in a relationship. It can signify a deeper commitment and a step toward marriage without the formalities.

4. **Cultural Shifts:** Societal norms around relationships have evolved, and many couples view cohabitation as a normal and acceptable step before marriage.

5. **Practicality:** Some couples choose to live together for practical reasons, such as proximity to work or convenience. It can be a way to spend more time together without the formality of marriage.

6. **Getting to Know Each Other:** Living together provides an opportunity to know each other more intimately, discovering each other's strengths and weaknesses, which can be valuable information before making a long-term commitment.

It's essential for couples to communicate openly about their expectations, values, and intentions regarding cohabitation. While some see it as a step towards marriage, others may have different perspectives, and clear communication helps ensure both partners are on the same page.
