What is the difference between being informed and being educated?

And educated man is more knowledgeable than an informed person because he most have spent more time in school than an informed person. For example someone may be informed about the functions of a new car, while an educated persons will go beyond knowing the functions of the new car to understanding the principles behind the functions.
