The following are the basic first aid skills they must learn:
1. Assess the Situation: In a medical emergency or accident, first assess the situation and the victim’s condition before taking any action.
2. Call for Help: If the situation is serious, call for medical help, or ask someone else to do so.
3. Administer First Aid: Depending on the situation, apply basic first aid measures such as applying pressure to stop bleeding, cleaning and bandaging wounds, applying splints for fractures, etc.
4. Comfort the Victim: Provide emotional support to the victim and ensure that he/she is kept calm.
5. Monitor the Victim: Monitor the victim’s breathing and pulse, if needed.
6. Follow Up: Make sure to follow up with the victim after the incident and provide the necessary support.
