Nike was founded on January 25,1964.
Nike was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight. Bill Bowerman was a track and field coach at the University of Oregon, and Phil Knight was one of his athletes. Together, they established the company, originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS), with the goal of importing and distributing high-quality athletic shoes from Japan. The company later rebranded as Nike, Inc. in 1971.
