Who was the first emperor of China?
The first emperor of China is typically recognized as Qin Shi Huang (born Ying Zheng). He ruled from 221 BC to 210 BC and is known for unifying various warring states into the Qin Dynasty and establishing the foundation of imperial China.
Qin Shi Huang is famous for many accomplishments, including standardizing weights and measures, implementing a uniform system of writing (which contributed to the creation of the first version of the Chinese script), and building the Great Wall of China (though it was significantly expanded by later dynasties). He also ordered the construction of the Terracotta Army, an enormous collection of life-sized clay soldiers, as part of his mausoleum complex.
