In football, a penalty kick is taken from 12 yards away from the goal.

Penalty kicks are awarded when a foul is committed within the penalty area, which is 18 yards from goal. The penalty taker has only the goalkeeper to beat in order to score, and if successful, the team awarded the penalty kick is given one point.

In football, a penalty kick is taken from a distance of 12 yards (11 meters) away from the goal. It is awarded when a defending team commits a major foul or handball within their own penalty area. The player taking the penalty kick is the only one allowed to touch the ball until it either goes into the goal or is saved by the goal-keeper. Penalty kicks are considered to be one of the most high-pressure situations in football and have often proved to be a deciding factor in the outcome of a match.
