The Greek goddess Electra persuaded her brother Orestes to kill their mother Clytemnestra. This was in revenge for Clytemnestra killing their father Agamemnon. The myth of Electra and Orestes became the basis for several plays by ancient Greek playwrights, including Aeschylus and Euripides.
