Scientifically speaking, there is a broad definition of nutrients as something that provides nourishment for a person, plant, or being. 


But I explain it was something we get from food and drinks that helps our body grow, be active, and heal if we are hurt or sick. 

That last bit came from my time working in a daycare and during the science units from the preschool.
