My 7 year child is nagging me for a smartimage phone. After all every **** and Harry owns one. Why shouldn't she have one. They watch nice things on their phones. They can take images of themselves and post them on sites. They can call and be called. Why doesn't she have one of her own?

I tend to disagree. She is not every kid but my daughter. She will have a phone when she turns 18 or goes to the university whichever comes first. She cannot hear of it. She reminds me every other hour. She is nagging.

Should I allow her?

Yes, you should allow her to use phone at the age of 7 years. A girl of 7 years in this era is intelligent enough to know what is going on in the world. For me, my child can start using smart phone at the age of 7years and above.

I think seven years is still too young. These gadgets do distract learning. We live in the error of the gadgets yet we should somehow control their use.

If she was18 Then this is the correct time to allow her a smart phone. because some time she going to college, Tuition's or some where else any imergency occurred in home or that place where she gone then she could easily connected with her parent.

I had thought so. Smartphones are distractors to Education for young minds. They may be engrossed in games and abandon study.

If she already has a tablet or laptop a smartphone is not necessary until age 18, gadgets should be provided for educational purposes and parental guided fun, a tablet or computer can already provide those, also, it's good to set your boundaries so if you say no smartphone until 18 years old be adamant about it.

As per my views we can allow a kid to use Smart Phone from her/his Class 10 as if, now a days like if we face Corona Virus Pandemic, schools are closed and children are missing Classes to cover that Schools are using Online classes to learn through Online classes they should have minimum knowledge of using Websites and how to download required notes.

They should be allowed to use from class 10.

In my family, all our children only have had their first phones at 16 years old. Once they started having their own jobs and can pay for their own phone plans and pre-paids.

When they start being alone, like attending secondary school which will expose them to walking home alone, the essence of assigning smart phone to them at that time is for emergency, incase something happens to them they can quickly reach you.

I feel like age of 10 would be a nice age to give them their own smartphone . They could do all their assignments and stuff in it  , but yeah I do agree its more of a harm than good to them

You can allow your kid to have a smartphone if you think she really deserves to have one and not only because of being jealous of others. If you think she is responsible enough to have a smartphone of her own. Do not get her a smartphone just for the sake that she is not left behind by other people. If she's doing good in school or being a good child to you. This is one of the possibilities that you can get her smartphone.

Kids can get their own smartphone with the help of their parents if they are under 18 but that can require them to be added to their parents cellphone service because to get your own cellphone service you have to be 18 years of 18 and provide your social security number as well as show your government issued photo id such as your drivers license and having your own cellphone service would require you to pay a bill that you receive in the mail.

If a child can determine what is right or wrong, then he or she can have a smartphone. We cannot control them not to using modern gadgets because they will be left behind.

Where I'm from, a lot of children have smart phones and tablets. My son and I used to play and watch on my phone.  When he was 7, I gave him a tablet without a sim card. He only used it to play and watch, under my consent and supervision. Flash forward to the pandemic, they had purely online classes for one whole academic year. I didn't have to worry because he quickly learned the controls of Zoom and Google Classroom. He was even more adept to Zoom than some of his teachers. He can also do research for school. Also, when I'm not home, I can video call him anytime.

There are benefits to the technology, but yes, it is scary because it can be used for the wrong reasons. It's still ultimately your decision. If you do decide to give her a smartphone, it would be best that she knows that you have parental control over it. It would be good to set limits on phone use. Hope this helps!

No, you should not allow your child a smartphone until they have reached the 18th birthday. They should then be able to use them for business purposes only.

That is generally not an issue until after 7 years old, when some new technology may have been born. Then it may be appropriate to provide a phone but not too soon, and definitely not in the past 7 years.

Well I am fully aware of the fact that we are in a digital age but the age of seven is too early but if she continues to persist then you should but under full supervision
