So I woke up early in the morning to a loud high pitched noise in my right ear. Kind of like a dog whistle, but at a lower, audible pitch. It would quit. But for a whole day, now, it's been randomly ringing on and off. I'm worried I might have hearing damage from some loud noise. But I also think it might not be caused by noise, as I was sleeping when it first happened. I sleep with a fan on every night, but it isn't loud, and I've been sleeping with the fan on for the last decade or so with no problems. It doesn't seem noise induced tinnitus occurs when there's no noise to begin with. Unless the damage is delayed somehow. At the moment, my right ear still rings and feels weird. Any ideas on what could have caused this?
