With good care dental implants can last a lifetime. Much like normal teeth hygiene is vital to keep them in good shape. It is especially important to clean then around the gum to prevent disease around the implant. There are special brushes which can be bought to make sure you get to every part of the implant and flossing should be carried out too.

Dental implants are far from commonplace as they are so expensive, around £1000 a tooth, and unfortunately there are people who do not realise how important it is to take care of them.  Poor hygiene can result in bacterial infection, bone loss and considerable pain so if inflammation of the gum occurs professional advice should be sought right away.

Normally after dental implants, the dentist will give you a set of instructions to follow. This will teach you how to take care of your teeth and how to brush and floss. This is very important after having any type of dental work done on your mouth. Implants are a great way to fix your teeth and not have to have a bridge put in. I think it is better to have an implant than a bridge because they are so much easier to take care of.
