It becomes pretty difficult to give up the one you love regardless of the odds that are against both of you. Some parents will say you can't get married to that man because he's not  your class, status or tribe/caste etc. In spite the opposition, both lover find it hard to let go their love as it were in titanic. What could the reason for such never letting go type of love?

Of course it's hard because they still mean something to you and the memories you've had also matters on the pain you have inside you. No matter what separation may happen, you will still be able to remember that person because of your feeling in the heart.

Letting go of someone you love can be difficult for a variety of reasons:

Emotional attachment: When you love someone, you develop a deep emotional attachment to them, which can be hard to break. It's natural to feel a sense of loss and sadness when that attachment is severed.

Fear of the unknown: Letting go of someone you love means venturing into unknown territory, and this can be scary. You might be afraid of being alone or not finding someone else to love.

Memories and shared experiences: Memories of happy times and shared experiences with your loved one can make it difficult to let go. You might feel like you're losing a part of yourself or a big part of your life.

Hope for reconciliation: Sometimes, people hold onto a relationship because they hope that their loved one will come back or that they can work things out. This hope can make it hard to let go and move on.

Perception of failure: Letting go of someone you love can feel like a failure, especially if you've invested a lot of time and effort into the relationship. You might feel like you're giving up on something that you've worked hard to maintain.

It's important to recognize that letting go of someone you love is a process, and it takes time. It's okay to grieve the loss of the relationship and to take the time you need to heal. With time, self-care, and support from friends and family, it is possible to move on and find happiness again

There are some people however who defy all the odds and their love stays true despite the fact that many people are against it. They will see each other in secret and have even been known to run off together although this is not ideal and can cause family rifts. In most cases a person will meet someone more suitable but this doesn't mean you have to forget this person that was so special to you, You just keep them safely tucked away inside.
