What does the teacher do to maintain the interest of the students in the lessons?

Teacher should be good and kind to students, they also should explain the lessons well and give the students a chance to ask for things that they don't understand, also teacher should not shout and frighten the students .

they should be friendly with students .

I fully agree with this. When my son was starting this academic year (online classes), I heard one of her teachers asked what the students expect from her. Almost all of them said that they expect her to be kind.

The best way to keep the student interested in class is your ability to tell them stories, As a qualified teacher which you call your self, i believe you must have undergo certain training which have made you a teacher,

Yes, I believe that storytelling is a useful and powerful skill to have as a teacher. I've heard my son's online classes, and the teachers that share stories or allow the students to tell stories, the kids respond well to them.

Personally, I think a teacher could maintain interest if they relate lessons in real life. If it's not possible, I think sharing things and experiences, even if not related to the lessons, could keep their interest. I once had a Physics professor who just shared life anecdotes that were funny. They didn't relate to Physics, but it made the class interesting.

Based on my experience, even if the teachers are eager to teach their young learners and they are not willing to learn, then it would be useless to teach them.
