Iceland is the country where more than half of the people believe in elves.
Elves are known as "hidden people" in Icelandic folklore and mythology, and many people in Iceland consider them to be real beings living in rocks, hills, and other natural surroundings.
According to a 2007 survey, 54.4% of Icelanders believe in the existence of elves, and many road construction projects and other developments have been altered or delayed to avoid disturbing the areas where the hidden people are believed to live.
