In Greek mythology, Hercules had to obtain the Golden Apples of the Hesperides from the garden of Hesperides as one of his Twelve Labours. The Hesperides were nymphs, daughters of Atlas, and the garden was located in a far-off land. The Golden Apples were considered divine and bestowed immortality upon anyone who consumed them. Hercules had to navigate various challenges, including defeating the dragon Ladon, in order to retrieve the Golden Apples and complete his task.
