Non-essential amino acids are amino acids that the body can synthesize on its own, so they do not need to be obtained through the diet. The human body can produce 11 of the 20 amino acids needed to make proteins, which are called non-essential amino acids. The remaining nine essential amino acids must be obtained through the diet. However, even though the body can synthesize non-essential amino acids, it is still important to consume a balanced diet with all essential and non-essential amino acids to support optimal health.
