Only store liquid nitrogen in container with loos fitting lids. A tightly sealed container will build up pressure as the liquid boils and may explod after a short time.

Storage vessels and dewars are used to store liquid nitrogen. Storage vessels are classed as pressure vessels and must meet the requirements of AS2030.4 They have an internal volume capacity of greater than 50L and are used for bulk storage. In most cases, these are leased from the suppliers and it is their responsibility to maintain the vessels according to the standard. Dewars are portable, double-walled containers that are open necked, free-venting and non-pressurized. Only dewars that meet AS1894 standard should be used to store liquid nitrogen and regular physical inspection should be carried out to check the external surface integrity.

Storing liquid nitrogen (LN2) requires proper equipment, safety precautions, and a well-ventilated area. Here are some guidelines for storing LN2 safely: Container: Use a sturdy, insulated, and well-sealed container, such as a dewar flask, to store LN2. Ventilation: Store LN2 in a well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition and flammable materials. Insulation: Keep LN2 containers insulated to minimize heat transfer and prevent the LN2 from evaporating. Protection: Store LN2 containers in a secure, protected area to prevent damage or spills. Transport: When transporting LN2, make sure containers are securely fastened and protected from damage. Labeling: Label LN2 containers clearly with the date of fill, contents, and hazard information. Maintenance: Regularly inspect LN2 containers for leaks, corrosion, or other signs of damage. It is important to follow all safety guidelines and procedures when storing LN2 to prevent injury and minimize the risk of accidents. Additionally, it is crucial to make sure that the LN2 is stored in a location that is accessible only by authorized personnel who have been trained in the proper handling of LN2.

store liquid nitrogen in containers with loose fitting lids (Never seal liquid nitrogen in a container). A tightly sealed container will build up pressure as the liquid boils and may explode after a short time. Never touch non-insulated vessels containing cryogenic liquids.
