Victory is determined by attitude; attitude is determined by believing; believing is determined by the Word.
A great Biblical scholar spoke this truth which is a powerful reminder that a continual renewal in attitude is key to a victorious life and is especially crucial if tempted with thoughts of past disappointment. A thought-provoking and many times true saying is that hindsight is 20/20. For that reason, we can all reflect on mistakes we have made, and have the possibility of feeling regret. Unless feelings due to a past mistake linger to present day, and there is a possibility of lifting someone up, for the most part, there is no profit in feeling regret. The realization that feelings of regret only bring a person down is the reason I have decided to cast any such memories out of my thoughts the moment they enter. A record in Psalms is further help in uplifting a believer's attitude:
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:4-5
Reflecting on my life with the realization that victory is determined by attitude, there are lessons that I apply in my daily endeavors. One of the most notable is my awareness of attitudes that are in harmony with or contrary to God's Word, and my decision-making regarding people and situations I allow in my life.
