how much is your food expenditure for lunch a day? me around $1-2, how about you and what is the menu?

I think mine is half of yours. Menu could something like porridge of various types. It is cheap. With addition of sandwiches with butter. Or it can be srambled egges with sausage. Tea.

maybe because we eat rice in south east asia, then the food price is higher with side dishes of course

When I am cooking every meal, it also costs from $1 to 2. It is hard to make a budget meal per day, but I am trying my best to do it.

I eat quite well on $30 to $40 a week, but then I fix my own meals, watch for bargains, etc. My calculator claims this is about $2 a meal.

If you mean cost, a meal runs from minimum $5 (McDonalds-type fast food) to $100 (fancy suit&tie restaurant) in California.

In India,kerala the lunch are rice with side dishes and some special like fish, chicken,beef etc. Around 150rs to 250rs.if having other authentic dishes like manthi, ghee rice etc it costs more than 300rs.

Ok so the lunch expenditure for me here in my country is frim 0.5$ to a maximum of 1.5$ because in lunch we only take snaks not heavy foods.
