1. You do not heat up your pan. Heat your pan over medium-high heat until a droplet of water jumps and skitters around on the surface of the pan.
2. You Under season your food. By seasoning, we mean salt. When it comes to salt, most recipes say season to taste which means that you should be able to taste the salt. Knowing how much salt to add, and when to add it, is largely a matter of experience. Do not forget to salt the cooking water for pasta, rice and potatoes.
3. You do not read the recipe. Read the recipe all the way through before starting. Make sure you have all ingredients at home or you can use substitute something.
4. Your kitchen knives are dull. If your knives are not sharp enough, you apply more pressure, the blade is more likely slip and you cut yourself deeply. Keep your knives sharp and store them properly so they stay that way.
5. You scoop your flour. weight your flour with a digital scale so that you can make great cookies, cakes and pancakes. If you use inaccurate measure flour it in turn leads to hard cookies, stiff cakes and rubbery pancakes.
6. You keep your butter in the fridge. Store your butter on the counter in a opaque butter dish with a lid.
7. You do not wash your vegetables properly.
8. You are using expired species. Check the date of expiry of your species
9. Wash your utensils properly before cooking.
10. Wash your hands properly before and after cutting your vegetables and meat.
